Three Suspects Arrested as Police Raid Kibuye Spare Parts Shops
Police in Katwe Division have recovered spare parts believed to belong to about 200 motorcycles during an operation targeting suspected stolen motorcycles and parts in Wansanso Zone, Kibuye II Parish, Makindye Division in Kampala.
The operation, which began on 20th April 2026, culminated in a search conducted on 22nd April 2026 at around 0900 hours.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, said eight shops were cordoned off and searched, leading to the recovery of numerous spare parts linked to the motorcycles.
Among the recovered items were 28 Ugandan motorcycle number plates, eight tracking devices, three number plates yet to be fully identified, one South Sudan number plate, three Kenyan motorcycle number plates, and three intact motorcycles with tampered number plates.
Later in the evening, another operation was conducted to apprehend suspects connected to the recovered items.
One suspect, identified as Kavuma Faisal, was arrested at Shell Kibuye. A search of his shop led to the recovery of a brand-new motorcycle without a number plate, along with several spare parts.
Another suspect, Sonko Alex, a resident of Kinawa in Nateete, was arrested after being found in possession of motorcycle registration number UFC 830R, a red Bajaj Boxer suspected to have been stolen.
A third suspect, Matovu Mike, was later arrested in Ndeeba in connection with the same operation.
Owoyesigyire said investigations are ongoing, with efforts underway to recover more stolen motorcycles and apprehend additional suspects. Police have reiterated their commitment to combating motorcycle theft and dismantling criminal networks involved in the illegal spare parts trade.
