Suspect Arrested with Toy Gun in Northern Bypass Robbery Crackdown
Police in Nateete are holding a suspect for impersonation following an incident that occurred on 21 April 2026 at around 1700hrs along the Northern Bypass in Busega.
The suspect has been identified as Abdu Serugo, a 26-year-old resident of Bombo Kalule in Luwero District.
SP Kawala Racheal, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, said a task team received information about a man who was threatening to shoot members of the public while claiming to be a security officer. Joint security agencies responded swiftly and arrested the suspect.
A search led to the recovery of a toy pistol. He was also found in possession of footwear resembling military boots and an SFC T-shirt.
Kawala said preliminary findings indicate that the suspect is allegedly part of a group that targets and robs unsuspecting victims along the Northern Bypass.
Cases of personation and threatening violence have been registered, and inquiries are ongoing.
