Police search for assailants who killed two men in Jinja City last night

Police in Kiira region is searching for assailants who killed two men last night and dumped their bodies at different points within Wanyama cell, in the Northern division of Jinja city.

Residents spotted the bodies while heading for work on Friday morning.

The bodies were covered with wounds, raising suspicion that they were attacked by machete-wielding men.

Police identified one of the deceased as 47-year-old Bilenge Awoto, while the other man’s identity is not yet established.

The bodies have been conveyed to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital mortuary, awaiting postmortem.

Residents believe that the two could have been killed elsewhere and their bodies dumped in their area as a cover-up. 

According to James Mubi the Kiira region’s police spokesperson, the motive of the killers is not yet known and detectives have been deployed to intensify the hunt for the suspects.

He added that officers in charge of different police stations throughout Kiira region, have been directed to intensify both day and night patrols aimed at busting rising criminal gangs in this festive season.
