Four Teachers Arrested for Sharing Fake PLE Exam Papers Online

The police have arrested four teachers for unauthorized possession and online dissemination of fake PLE examination papers. The suspects include Bakashaba Vincent, a teacher at Kimongole Primary School in Isingiro; Muheki Vincent, a teacher at Vision Primary School in Ibanda; Pabeku Albert, a teacher at Stoneridge Primary School in Kira; and Oyet Hosea, a teacher at Dignatory Junior School in Rukungiri.

According to Jennifer Kalule-Musamba, the Principal Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of UNEB, the four were found sharing fake PLE papers on various social media platforms, where they allegedly extorted money amounting to 750,000 UGX per set of the purported four PLE papers. The accused are still in police custody and are expected to appear in court for plea-taking on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

In a press statement, Kalule noted that Section 25 of the UNEB Act, CAP 259, states that any person who gains or attempts to gain possession of any examination paper, or any part of an examination paper, examination material, or any other material or information purporting to relate to the contents of an examination paper, commits an offense and is liable, on conviction, to a fine not exceeding one thousand currency points (twenty million shillings) or a term of imprisonment not exceeding five years, or both. This includes the electronic version and transmission of such examination material or information.

Candidates are set to begin writing their PLE papers on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
