Police releases details of twenty victims of Link Bus accident

Uganda Police Force has released details of the twenty people who died in the Wednesday Link bus accident along the Fort Portal-Kampala highway.


The accident which occurred at Sebitoli trading Centre in Busoro sub-county in Kabarole district on Wednesday claimed 20 lives and left several others seriously injured.  

The link coach registration number UBA 003S destined for Kampala was travelling from Bundibugyo district when it veered off the road and overturned several times. 

According to Vincent Twesige the Rwenzori West Region Police Spokesperson, they have since identified some of the deceased.

They include; Dauphine Alinda, Divine Alice, Lastako Thembo, Hassan Sempala, Steven Kahwa, Alum Susan, Jimmy Nkutuma, James Muhanga, Derrick Mujuni, Sefania Mussumba, Roseline Kanyunyuzi, Stella Biraba, Moses Masereka, Maxima Kabafumi, Harriet Nabukenya, Alice Nyakuha, Gift Asiimwe, one Monica and another victim who identity has been established.  

Another victim identified as John Asiimwe succumbed to injuries this morning at Fort portal regional referral hospital. This brings to 20, the number of those killed in the accident. 

Twesige added that they are yet to establish the cause of the accident, adding that investigations are still ongoing. 

Last evening, the Ministry of Works and Transport Ministry suspended the operations of Link Bus services as investigations into the accident continue.
