Police launch investigation into Nakasongola Triple Homicide

Police detectives in Nakasongola are hunting for unknown assailants who waylaid a family of three and stabbed them to death. The incident occurred on Monday, September 25th, 2023, at about 10:00 PM at Kaunya Village, Bumugolodde Parish, Kalongo Sub-county, Nakasongola District.

The victims have been identified as Mutimba Julius a 45-year-old medical practitioner, his wife, Nakayima Resty, 35 years, a medical practitioner and councillor of Kalongo Sub-county, and their infant child, Immaculate aged 6 months). All three were residents of the same area.

It is reported that Mutinda, now deceased, was operating two clinics in the trading centres of Bamugolodde and Nalubobya. On Monday night, he had gone to pick up his wife from Nalubobya on his motorcycle UFL 736K, a Bajaj model in red colour.

Unfortunately, he was ambushed by unknown assailants on his way. The assailants had blocked the road with logs and stabbed him in the left chest, causing him to fall from his motorcycle and succumb to his injuries.

The attackers then turned their violence towards his wife, who had fallen about 5 meters away from her husband, with their 6-month-old baby. When neighbours rushed to the scene, the assailants fled into the nearby bush.

ASP Twiineamazima Sam, the PRO Savannah Region says that Police Officers from Nakasongola responded to the scene and registered a case of murder by stabbing, conducted a thorough examination of the crime scene, recovered the motorcycle, recorded statements from witnesses, and transported the bodies to Nakasongola Health Centre IV for postmortem examination.

Twiinezamazima added that the motive behind this heinous act remains unknown at this time, and as of now, no arrests have been made. Investigation into the murders continues.
