Police Hunt for Thugs Who Stole Gun from Guard in Iganga
Police in Iganga are investigating an aggravated robbery in which a firearm was stolen from a security guard on duty at Samisa Electronics and an agent banking outlet in Kasokoso Central I Village, Kasokoso Ward, Iganga Central Division.
The victim has been identified as Ochen Vincent, 28, attached to Wolves Security Company, Iganga Branch.
According to ASP Kasadha Micheal, the Regional Spokesperson for Busoga East, the incident occurred on 16 April 2026 at around 4:00 a.m., when unknown assailants attacked the guard while he was on duty. The attackers reportedly struck and cut him on the head before robbing him of an SAR rifle (Reg. No. UG PSO 56S4101565-13018) loaded with five rounds of live ammunition, along with other unspecified items.
The assailants fled the scene, leaving the victim unconscious in a pool of blood. A team of police officers led by the Officer in Charge visited the scene, and a sniffer dog was deployed, tracking a scent to a video hall located approximately one kilometre away.
Kasadha said exhibits of forensic value were recovered, and CCTV footage has been retrieved for further analysis. The victim was initially rushed to Iganga Hospital before being referred to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital for specialised treatment.
