“Mbolimboli” Arrested as Police Intensify Operations in Wakiso

Police in the Kampala Metropolitan area, in collaboration with the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), have conducted a series of intelligence-led operations in Wakiso District as part of ongoing efforts to combat crime and enhance public safety.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, the first operation was carried out on 14 April 2026 in Mayirikiti Zone, Buwambo Ward, Kasangati Town Council.

During the operation, Owor Isaac, also known as “Mbolimboli,” was arrested. He is a suspected notorious criminal and alleged leader of the “Kasolo” gang, believed to be behind a series of house break-ins and robberies along the Matugga–Kasangati–Kawempe corridor. Several of his suspected accomplices were also apprehended.

On 16 April 2026 at approximately 3:30 a.m., another intelligence-led operation was conducted in Buwate, Najjera II, Kira Municipality. During this operation, eight suspects were arrested from identified hotspots, particularly areas associated with narcotic substance abuse. Exhibits of suspected marijuana were recovered. The suspects have since been charged with possession of suspected narcotic drugs and are currently detained at Kira Division Police Station, pending further screening and investigation.

Owoyesigyire noted that the community continues to play a vital role in supporting security efforts and encouraged members of the public to assist by identifying suspects and providing information related to ongoing investigations.

He added that the operations are part of sustained efforts by security agencies to dismantle criminal networks and restore safety in affected areas, with similar operations expected to continue.
