Police hunt for suspect who stabbed Gomba Catholic priest to death
The Police in Gomba district have launched a hunt for one Vincent Katumba, a man believed to have stabbed and killed Rev Fr. Josephat Kasambula.
It is suspected that Katumba stabbed the catholic priest to death on Wednesday when he went to inspect his property in Kikunyu Village, Mmamba Parish in Kyegonza Sub County.
Information from the residents indicated that Rev. Kasambula, who has been serving in Lwamata Catholic Parish had taken more than 2 years without visiting his property.
However, he was shocked to find the suspect occupying his house and utilizing his land without his consent.
According to Lydia Tumushabe, the Katonga Region Police Spokesperson, when the priest arrived at his property, the suspect got angry and stabbed him with a knife in the back.
Rev. Fr Ibrahim Kayemba, a priest in Mmamba Parish in Gomba District described the incident and death of his colleague as a shock.
The deceased had sent his nephews to check on the property first, but the suspect chased them away violently too.
