Administration at Jinja Regional Referral Hospital has temporarily closed the Emergency unit after registering two COVID-19 deaths.
On Tuesday morning, patients and their attendants started fleeing for fear of contracting Covid-19 despite the facility being disinfected on Monday evening. Management was forced to put a temporally lock on the Emergency Unit and relocate some of the patients to the outpatient department.
Many patients however, have opted to seek medical services from lower health facilities.
The temporary closure of the unit was confirmed by Dr Florence Tugumisirize the Hospital Director who did not divulge any details.
Some of the patient attendants say they took their people away, after realizing the risk of COVID-19 infection at the facility.
