MP Odonga Otto attacks DIGP Lokech for allegedly Persecuting him

Outgoing Aruu Constituency Member of Parliament Odonga Otto has been released, 7 days after his arrest in Gulu.

Otto was arrested at Booma Hotel Gulu on Tuesday last week for illegal possession of arms and driven to CID headquarters in Kampala, before being subjected to a mental health test.

He was Friday charged before Court in Pader with assault, Malicious damage and several other crimes, before being sent to Gulu government prison.

The MP applied for bail through his lawyer Ms Juliet Oyullu of Odonga Otto and company advocates, but this was denied by the Grade one Magistrate, Mr Edward Akankwasa.

He was however released on Tuesday afternoon. Otto immediately took to Twitter and accused the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Paul Lokech of setting him up.

Otto says he was released at the orders of President Yoweri Museveni.

“Deputy IGP Paul Lokech is political persecuting me having got his son elected MP Aruu. Senior Acholi leaders made efforts to restrain Paul Lokech but in vain. I wish to that the President Gen. Museveni for his intervention that got me out after 7 days in jail. Aluta Continua” Otto said.
