EC postpones Nomination exercise for Parliamentary elections

The electoral commission has postponed the nomination exercise for Parliamentary elections.

Justice Simon Byabakama, the EC Chairperson nomination which was slated for Monday October 12th and Tuesday October 13th will now be carried out on Thursday 15th and Friday 16th October 2020.

This follows a directive from the speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga who says married women need more time for deed polls, where they would change their names.

Now, Byabakama says the exercise shall be conducted at the respective District/City headquarters across the country, beginning at 9:00am to 5:00PM in the evening on each of the appointed dates.

He urged all aspiring candidates to carefully note the revised program and prepare for nomination with the guidelines issued for the exercise.
