Boda boda rider killed in broad day light, motorcycle stolen

Police in Nakaseke have launched a manhunt for unknown assailants who brutally killed a Boda boda rider at Naseeta village, before making off with his motorcycle on Monday afternoon.

It is reported that the killers hit Andrew Katumba with a hammer on the head, killing him instantly. The incident happened at around 1:30 pm at Naseeta village in Kasangombe Sub County.

Katumba’s motorcycle registration number UFB 701D was stolen by the unknown killers. The deceased has been operating from Kayembe stage in Wampamba zone in Wobulenzi town council.

According to James Peter Kibogga the Defense Secretary of Wobulenzi Boda Boda Transporter’s Association, an unidentified man hired Katumba from the stage to take him to Nakaseke. However, along the way he ordered him to branch off from the main road to Naseeta village where he clobbered him with a hammer on the head.

The thug who allegedly seemed to have had a colleague waiting in the bushes also cut Katumba’s throat and left him bleeding profusely. Kibogga says Katumba bled to death as residents found his lifeless body lying by the roadside.

Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson Isah Ssemwogerere said by press time, that they were still on the scene and searching for the killers.
