Nigerian rap sensation Emeka Akumefule, professionally known as Blaqbonez, set the stage ablaze last Saturday at the Jameson Hangout 2023 finale in Ndere Centre, delivering a captivating performance that left the audience clamoring for more.
The 27-year-old artist, making his debut appearance in the pearl of Africa, donned a striking ensemble of a white shirt, black shorts, and a casual jacket. The crowd erupted in loud cheers as he took the stage, showcasing a blend of confidence and excitement in response to the warm welcome.
Despite being unfamiliar with the Ugandan audience, Blaqbonez’s electrifying reception fueled his confidence, leading to a stellar performance that resonated with the enthusiastic crowd. His song selection, featuring hits like ‘Like Ice Spice,’ ‘Wo Wo,’ ‘Cinderella Girl,’ and ‘Breaking the Yoke of Love,’ triggered an uproar of singing, dancing, and cheering from the captivated audience. The overall vibe of his performance can be aptly described as both energetic and entertaining.
However, Blaqbonez was not the sole highlight of the chilly evening; earlier in the night, Lilian Mbabazi took the audience on a nostalgic journey with her renditions from her Blu *3 days and subsequent solo career.
The event, organized by Talent Africa, featured earlier performances by Adrenalyn Music and Mike Mungu, while DJs Alza, Hady, Heydez, Tony, and Adele Kiele kept the beats alive throughout the day. The Jameson Hangout, a quarterly fest curated by Talent Africa, proved once again to be a multifaceted experience, featuring interactive games, trend-setting pop-up shops, captivating musical performances, and delectable barbecue delicacies.
