The body of the late Governor BOU Prof Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile is expected to arrive in the country at exactly 7:30 pm today Tuesday 25th January 2022 from Nairobi.
Mutebile died on Sunday morning at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi where he has been undergoing treatment.
According to the burial program, the body will be brought home today and upon arrival at the airport, it will be taken to A Plus funeral home.
Tomorrow 26th January, there will be a vigil at his home in Kololo which will only be attended by a few family members
On Thursday 27th January, the body will go to parliament for a special session. On Friday 28th, there will be a church service at Kololo ceremonial grounds and the body will proceed to his ancestral home in Kisoro.
He will later be laid to rest on Sunday 30th January beginning with a service at Rugarama Cathedral before burial at the deceased home in Omuruhita on the Kabale/Kisoro.
Mutebile has been governor Bank of Uganda since 2001. He has been ailing for some years, but reports indicate that his condition deteriorated on December 31st when he collapsed at his home in Kololo and was rushed to Nakasero Hospital, before being flown to Nairobi.
