Child Dies, Another Injured After Being Hit by Gate in Najjera

Police at Kira Road are investigating a case of rash and negligent act causing death following an incident that occurred on May 14, 2026, at around 6:00 PM in Najjera, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Kawala Racheal, it is alleged that at about 6:00 PM, Eegu James, a gatekeeper, accidentally knocked over two children who were playing near the gate while closing it at the home where he works.

The victims, both children of Peter Wampalu, were aged 4 and 7 years respectively. As a result of the incident, the older child, identified as Amir Abrahim Adam, sustained fatal injuries, while the younger child suffered severe injuries after being hit by the gate.

Both children were rushed to Mulago National Referral Hospital for medical attention. However, Amir Abrahim Adam was pronounced dead upon arrival.

SP Kawala said the gatekeeper is currently in police custody as investigations into the matter continue.
