Ya Levi’s leaves Ugandans yearning for more
Dubbed the “Ganda Vibes Experience with Ya Levis,” last Saturday’s show at Kampala Serena’s Victoria Hotel is still trending up to now. First because of Azawi’s misguided attack on Fenon Event and the way Ugandan fans swamped up the main act.
Ya Levis, a Congolese artiste based in France was headlining this concert which sold out before 8pm. The artiste surely put up a good show, performing mostly his hit songs including Nakati”, “Chocolate,” “Lokesh,” “Penzi”, “Liballa”, “Ne doute pas”, and “K.O” to the excitement of the crowd especially female revelers who decided to get on stage and dance with him. One by one, they went up to him, grinding their waists as he was performing. Some, he responded by dancing with them while for others, he decided to just let them do their thing. Not even the security could stop them. He will surely leave to remember this moment.
Before this, Ugandan artistes including Tungi, Kohen Jayce and Elijah Kitaka had already teased the audience with their infectious jams but it was Elijah Kitaka whose music they grooved to the most. The musician who is also a certified drummer delivered songs like Nothing, Ndi Wuwo and Dawa to the expectation of revelers.
Azawi’s performance was good but was overtaken by events after. She posted how Fenon Events were poor on sound not knowing that it was Swangz Avenue’s Double Black band who were behind the backline. She was crucified on social media for these allegations with some people asking why other artistes who performed before her were not complaining.
Others who attended the show went on and said, she might just have a problem because Fenon Event’s production was top notch right from the stage, the lighting, the graphics all the way to the sound.
