World Music Day To Be Marked In Uganda featuring The Mith
Through its officially launched which was held yesterday Wednesday, Uganda will celebrate world music day on Saturday at National Theatre and it will be attracting several musicians.
World Music Day, originated in France in 1982 and has since become a worldwide phenomenon. Alliance Francaise Kampala, a non-profit organization promoting cultural exchange between France and Uganda, has faithfully organized this musical extravaganza for several years, creating a vibrant platform for East African and French artists to showcase their talents.
As we celebrate this year’s World Music Day, Fête de la Musique- Alliance Française de Kampala (AFK) is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated celebration on June 24, 2023, at the National Theater in Uganda.
In a Press Conference held today at Alliance Francaise de Kampala, It was observed that this annual event, which is recognized globally, brings together music enthusiasts and artists to celebrate the power and diversity of music. This year’s edition promises an electrifying lineup of renowned musicians, including Muthoni Drummer Queen and The Mith, who will headline the event.
The Mith a celebrated Ugandan Hip Hop artist said that he is more than thrilled to be back on stage and is honored that Fête de la Musique- Alliance Française de Kampala has given him a chance to get back the stage after a long while. He will also be collaborating with an emerging singer Akeine. Other performances will include Muthoni Drummer Queen, and Alifchief among others.
A lot of other artists and creatives are expected to perform on Saturday at the Uganda National Theatre and these will include; Otim Alpha and his Adungu players, accompanied by dancers from the city of Gulu, a superb live set by Izaya the composer, showcasing his eclectic blend of genres influenced by African musical instruments, rhythms, and soundscapes. They call unto the general public to come celebrate World Music Day with them from cross cultures and all experiences are Free.
