Woman attacks, kills neighbour’s child over mother’s suspected love affair

Police detectives in Tororo are hunting for a woman who poured water on her neighbour’s family, killing a one-and-a-half-year-old child.

The suspect has been identified as Nambozo Joy a resident of Bison Maguria B, Western Division, Tororo Municipality, Tororo District.

The victims are Katek Hope a 23-year-old, her child Mukite Jesse aged one and a half years and her sister Owere Doreen an 18-year-old student at Infant Nursery training school- Tororo District.

According to IP Mugwe J Moses the Ag. PRO Bukedi South Region, it is alleged that on 30/04/2022 at about 11:00 pm, Nambozo who was armed with a kettle of hot water attacked Katek’s family and poured water on all three victims.

Nambozo allegedly suspected the victim of having a love affair with her husband only identified as Fazio.

Mugwe says the trio was rushed to Tororo main hospital for treatment but unfortunately, the child died on 02/05/2022 at about 4:00 pm

Homicide detectives and the Soco visited the scene of the crime.

The deceased’s body was taken to Tororo hospital mortuary pending post-mortem.

One suspect identified as Mutonyi Rose a resident of the same area has been arrested while the hunt for Joy Nambozo who is on the run is ongoing.

“We want to condemn acts of violence that culminate into serious offences like murder. In case of misunderstandings, these should be reported to relevant authorities for quick attention to deter the vice,” Mugwe advised.
