Uganda Cranes cleared to fly to Dubai ahead of S. Sudan Afcon Qualifier
The national football team, Uganda Cranes will travel to Dubai, United Arab Emirates this evening after they got clearance, the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has said.
According FUFA, Head coach Jonathan Mckinstry and the players were meant to travel on Sunday, but were delayed due to lack of clearance from authorities in Dubai over tough COVID-19 restrictions.
Ahmed Hussein the FUFA communications director said today that the team has accomplished all the travel conditions and will fly out at 9PM on Wednesday evening.
However, Uganda’s Egyptian based professional Derrick Nsibambi will not be part of the squad after he pulled out due to a hamstring injury he sustained while featuring for his club Smouha few days ago.
The traveling team includes; Denis Onyango, Salim Jamal Magoola, Joseph Ochaya, Alex Kakuba, Elvis Bwomono, Nicholas Wadada, Bevis Mugabi, Allan Kateregga, Farouk Miya, Allan Kyambadde, Jayden Onen, Alexis Bbakka and Edrisa Lubega.
Uganda Cranes will use the camping in Dubai to prepare for two games against South Sudan in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier to take place next month.
