Prison Warder shoots lover, himself to death in Mbarara

The Police of Mbarara City are investigating circumstances under which No.19015 Prison Warder Chemutai Aloysious, 27years old attached to Kakiika Prison shot and killed his lover No.19109 Prison Wardress Adong Magdalena, 24years old attached to Prison Academy and Training School Luzira who had come to visit him.

Chemutai later turned the gun on himself. The incident happened on Monday evening at about 7:55 pm.

According to Samson Kasasira the Rwizi Regional PRO, the preliminary investigations indicate that the officers have been in a relationship.

On Saturday 11/06/2022, Adong came to Mbarara to visit Chemutai at Kakiika prison. However, on Monday 13/06/2022 while on duty, he shot and killed Adong who was together with him at the duty station.

The Police visited the scene and recovered the killer weapon SMG Rifle No. UG PRI 49001094-01247 with 24 rounds of ammunition and three cartridges of the discharged bullets.

The bodies have been conveyed to Mbarara Regional referral hospital mortuary for postmortem as inquiries into the matter continue.
