Police officers from Kasangati in Kampala Metropolitan North have heavily deployed outside the residence of Former Forum for Democratic President Dr Kizza Besigye.
This follows an attempt by Besigye to drive to town on Monday to stage a protest against the high commodity prices.
According to Luke Owoyesigyire the PRO KMP, Besigye is not under arrest, but they are only blocking him to avoid any violence that could erupt downtown Kampala if he is allowed there.
Besigye insists he is only trying to wake fellow Ugandans up to pay attention to the increase in prices of different commodities since president Yoweri Museveni and his government has failed to provide solutions.
“They created a crisis they have no capacity to solve. Indeed, Mr Museveni for the first time mentioned that his hope is on oil, which I have been talking about that if we don’t fight to get rid of this camp before the oil flows into their account, we shall regret it for many generations. That’s why it is ever more urgent that we wake up Ugandans and they push back,” says Besigye.
