Police have reported an increase in motor vehicle theft since the month of May, Fred Enanga the police spokesperson has said.
While addressing the weekly police press conference at Naguru on Monday, Enanga noted that the stolen vehicles end up in DRC, Kenya and Tanzania.
He explained that most of the vehicles are stolen from the streets while others are taken from washing bays and by mechanics.
He also noted that Premio ordinary and Noahs are dismantled for spare parts while other vehicles are sprayed to change colors.
Enanga says that they have come up with some measures to avert these thefts and that so far 17 suspects have been arrested.
