Police Arrest Man In Viral Video Allegedly Promoting Crime

Officers from Banda Police Post have arrested a suspect in connection with a viral video circulating on social media platforms, including X, in which the individual allegedly made references to criminal activities taking place along Jinja Road and within Banda.

The suspect has been identified as Wafula Solomon, a 27-year-old resident of Banda Zone III, Banda Parish, Nakawa Division in Kampala District.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, investigations are underway to establish the circumstances under which the video was recorded and whether the suspect, or any of the individuals mentioned in the footage, may have been involved in criminal activities along Jinja Road and its surrounding areas.

“Police would like to caution members of the public against producing, sharing, or circulating content that glorifies, promotes, or appears to endorse criminal activity. Such conduct is not tolerated and may undermine ongoing efforts to combat crime and maintain public order,” said Owoyesigyire.

Police are also working to establish the identities of the individuals referenced in the video and determine whether they have any links to criminal activities.

Owoyesigyire noted that appropriate action will be taken against anyone found to have participated in criminal acts, and that investigations are ongoing.
