Two Held Over Kyenjojo Kidnap and Murder as Police Rescue 18 Children in Wakiso
Police in Kyenjojo have arrested two suspects in connection with a kidnapping and murder by strangulation case that was reported on 13th June 2026.
According to CP Kituuma Rusoke, the PRO of the Uganda Police Force, the incident occurred on 12th June at around 9:00 p.m. in Isoroma Village, Katongore Parish, Kisojo Sub-county.
Kituuma said preliminary findings indicate that on the evening of 12th June, a seven-year-old boy, Turinayo Osbert, went with his brothers to watch a movie at a bar within the neighbourhood but did not return home.
Efforts by family members and residents to trace him proved unsuccessful until 15th June, when the family received a phone call from an unknown person demanding a ransom of Shs1.5 million in exchange for the child’s release and threatening to kill him.
The case was reported to police, who tracked down and arrested two suspects identified as Manyindo Isaiah, commonly known as Bala, aged 26, and Twimukye Elias, aged 17.
During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to the killing and guided police to the crime scene, where the victim’s lifeless body was found covered with tree leaves.
The body was conveyed to Kyenjojo Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
In a separate incident, police in Wakiso registered a case of alleged trafficking in persons following the rescue of 18 juveniles in Kakunyu Village, Wakiso Town Council.
Officers at Namusera Police Post received information from local council members in Kakunyu Village that a house in their area was housing an unusually large number of young children, estimated to be between 3 and 12 years old.
According to Kituuma, police, working together with local leaders and residents, conducted an operation at the premises. Eighteen juveniles, nine boys and nine girls, were found living in two dilapidated rooms under suspicious conditions.
It is alleged that the children had been transported from Luwero and Masindi districts under unclear circumstances. Two suspects, identified as Mulindwa George, 33, a teacher, and Babirye Madina, 24, a casual worker, were arrested.
