Mother arrested for strangling 4-year-old biological daughter to death

Police have arrested a 29-year old woman in Kireka Kiganda for allegedly strangling her 4-year-old child to death.

Luke Owoyesigyire the Deputy spokesperson KMP identified the suspect as Namilimu Ruth who killed her disabled child Nantongo Praise while at their home.

Police were called to the scene, picked the child’s body, and conveyed it to city mortuary Mulago awaiting postmortem.

Owoyesigyire says they suspect this could be murder because Namilimu is a single mother who hadn’t been staying with the child.

However, she sent for the child from the grandmother in Mukono but after the child had reached her home, Namilimu called the relatives to inform them that she was dead.

The incident happened on Sunday morning. Police found marks of strangulation on the child’s neck.

The suspect is now being held at Kira police station and she will be arraigned before courts of law.
