Ministry of Education, NIRA to register S.1 & S.2 learners

The Ministry of Education and Sports, in conjunction with NIRA has announced plans to conduct a countrywide registration of all learners in schools.

Then registration will ensure that the learners get National Identification Numbers in order to create unique identification, and enable continuous follow-up and progress assessment of each learner through the education levels.

Ketty Lamaro the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education says the exercise will begin on 1st July 2022 with the registration of all Senior One (S1) and Senior Two (S2) learners in all Government and Private Secondary schools.

“The target is to cover all local governments and register all S1 and S2 learners in approximately 5550 secondary schools by December 2022. By this letter, you are requested to avail lists of names of all your learners in S1 and S2 classes of 2022 to the Ministry of Education and Sports by 20th June 2022 for effective planning,” Lamaro said in a letter to head teachers across the country.
