Man strangled to death over 1000 Shillings

The Police in Busia District are hunting for Julius Wafula, a resident of Mbehenyi village in Masaba sub-county for strangling to death his colleague Fredrick Wekesa, a resident of Muwenjere village in Masaba sub-county over 1,000 shillings. 

The incident happened on Thursday at Mbehenyi trading center Wafula allegedly refused to pay the deceased 1,000 shillings after losing a game of Ludo. 

When Wekesa demanded the money, the suspect grabbed him and a fight ensued.

According to eyewitnesses, Wafula warned the deceased not to demand 1,000 Shillings, but when Wekesa insisted that he wants the money, Wafula forcefully grabbed and strangled him.

Bumera village Defense Secretary Bwire Kangali appealed to relevant authorities to intervene and stop youth from gambling.

Joseph Makokha, father to the deceased claims that his son left him home and went to the trading centre. However, when he returned home, Wekesa complained of pain in the neck. 

He was rushed to Masafu General Hospital where he died shortly after he was admitted.

Busia District Police Commander Didas Byaruhanga says the suspect is on the run but they are looking for him to help with investigations.
