Kamuli Road Accident Claims Businessman’s Life, Injures Another
The traffic police in Kamuli are investigating the cause of an accident that claimed the life of a 35-year-old businessman at Kapulinseni along the Kamuli-Nabirumba road.
The accident involved a motor vehicle, Reg. No. UAE 840C Mitsubishi Pajero, and a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, Reg. No. UEN 342N.
The deceased has been identified as Kitawu Moses, a resident of Bwoko, Nabirumba Parish, Nabwigulu Subcounty, Kamuli District. The injured victim, Wagabaza Emanuel Namiti, a 37-year-old resident of Kiwolera, Kamuli, is currently admitted to St. Luke Clinic.
ASP Micheal Kasadha, the Regional Spokesperson for Busoga North, stated that initial findings suggest the motorcycle rider, who was carrying maize, branched off to the left toward a nearby maize mill without signaling. This led to the vehicle coming from the same direction knocking him down, killing him instantly, and seriously injuring a pedestrian.
Kasadha added that officers visited the scene, and the body was taken to Kamuli General Hospital mortuary, pending a postmortem.
Both the motorcycle and the car have been impounded at Kamuli Central Police Station, pending inspection. Further inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
