Government: Parents Urged On HIV
Reported By Kabugo Musa And Kisegerwa Micheal
In its new HIV-prevention strategy, the Uganda Aids Commission (UAC) is encouraging parents to spend more time with their children, so as to promote responsible behaviour and prevent them from contracting the disease.
Speaking in Kamuli on February 20, the UAC director of Policy, Research and Programming, Dr Zepher Karyabakabo, said this was necessary because other strategies were barely effective. Uganda was once a global model for controlling infections, but has witnessed a resurgence of the virus, blamed on complacency and reversion to risky lifestyles.
