Four thugs arrested, one gun recovered

The Police Flying Squad in the Albertine region have recovered a gun originating from a foreign country and arrested four suspects believed to have been terrorizing residents in the area.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson identified the suspects have been identified as Hassan Isingoma 20, John Kabagambe 38, Doreen Bammuhiiga 17 all residents of Ntoroko and Rashid Byaruhanga 19, a resident of Kyenjojo.

The suspects were arrested from Nkondo landing site in Kikuube district over the weekend.

Hakiza says that they received intelligence that the suspects who have for long been based at Nkondo landing site in Kikuube had a gun which they were using to rob residents in the area.

When the squad raided the area on Friday night, they recovered an AK 47 riffle registration number URJ3106 from the suspects while at the landing site. The gun didn’t have any rounds of ammunition at the time it was recovered.

The suspects were immediately whisked to Kikuube central police station where they are currently being detained on charges of aggravated robbery and being in possession of a gun.

Hakiza says the recovered gun does not belong to any Ugandan security organ adding that they are yet to deliver it to their forensic experts in Kampala for further analysis to establish the country where the gun could have come from.
He has rallied residents settling on the shores of lake Albert to be vigilant and report any suspicious objects and persons to the nearby security operatives for quick action to be taken.
