Four Dead, 37 Injured as Truck Carrying Owobusobozi Bisaka Believers Overturns in Bushenyi

Four people have died following an accident at Omukatagu along the Ishaka-Kagamba road in Bushenyi.

The incident, involving a white Fuso truck, registration number UAX 019K, occurred at approximately 19:40 hours on February 13, 2025.

The deceased, whose identities are yet to be confirmed, include one man and three women, all believed to be members of the Owobusobozi Bisaka group from Kagadi Kapyemi. Additionally, 37 other people sustained injuries.

According to Martial Tumusiime, the PRO of Greater Bushenyi, the victims were alleged to have been travelling in a truck from Ishaka to Kisoro District.

Upon reaching Omukatagu, the driver reportedly failed to negotiate a blind bend due to excessive speed, lost control, and crashed into a pavement before the truck overturned.

Police responded to the scene, with a team led by RTO G and DTO Bushenyi.

The injured were rushed to Kitagata Hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to Kitagata Hospital mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.
