37 Suspects Arrested in Kampala Metropolitan Police Crackdown

A total of 37 suspects were arrested during coordinated operations conducted by the Kampala Metropolitan Police, in collaboration with other sister security agencies, on May 13 and 14, 2026, in Kira Municipality, Kajjansi Town Council, and the Kira Road Police Division.

The operations targeted identified crime hotspots in Kiyinda, Bulindo, Kiwologoma, Lweza, Nakigalala, Seguku, Kulambiro, and Tuba, where suspected criminals were reportedly gathering to abuse narcotic substances and plan criminal activities, including burglary and theft.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for the Kampala Metropolitan Police, exhibits recovered during the operations included suspected marijuana, dry plant materials, and playing cards.

All suspects are currently detained at the respective police stations, pending screening, fingerprinting, and further legal proceedings.

Owoyesigyire stated that the operations were successful and form part of ongoing efforts by the Kampala Metropolitan Police to combat criminality and ensure the safety and security of the public.
