Aroma Honey Toffee launched onto Ugandan Market

A new candy, Aroma Honey Toffee has officially been launched today onto the Ugandan market. The product was commissioned at a small event that took place at Protea Hotel in the country’s capital, Kampala.

Aroma Honey Toffee derives its uniqueness from its specific choice of raw materials and ingredients most notably choosing honey over sugar to maintain its “Healthy sweetness”.

The newest product is championed by Dr. Sarah Mubiru, the proprietor of Aroma Honey Toffee recounts that her inspiration comes from the Bible.

“My journey is greatly inspired by the help of my family but most importantly, the lord. Aroma Honey Toffee is alive today because of this very interesting Bible verse; Eat honey, my son, for it is good; honey from the comb is sweet to your taste. Know also that wisdom is sweet to your soul; if you find it, there is a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off. (Proverbs 24:13-14)”

Dr. Sarah Mubiru as a child loved sweets, a rather interesting vice that stayed with her through her school and her adult life.

With her vast experience as a researcher following her first degree, a bachelor of sciences in Agriculture and her masters from Australia in a similar discipline before pursuing her PhD in natural sciences also from Makerere University, Dr Mubiru saw this day coming.

Most of her work was in line with research and consultancy which also meant attending so many workshops and conferences.

Aroma Honey Toffee comes in four flavors; Coconut, Peanut, Coffee and Ginger and a pack of 12 goes for UGX 20,000. Aroma Honey toffees have a shelf life of 2 weeks but that can be extended when you keep them in the fridge.

Geoffrey Mulwana, CEO JESA Dairy Farm who was the guest of honor expressed his delight to share in this important milestone for Uganda’s business sector as we continue to promote locally made products under the umbrella— Buy Uganda Build Uganda( BUBU).

“Six years of hard work, self-belief and a dream have brought us here today for the launch of this amazing product. I agreed to be here today because I strongly believe in supporting entrepreneurship especially when it’s homegrown and female empowering as this project is”, he noted.

The journey of Aroma Honey Toffee dates back to early 2015. Dr Sarah Mubiru at the time was in her last year in employment shortly before she embarked on the mission to bring the product to life.

Six months later, when she finally left her job, after many trials and errors, Dr Sarah would later come up with a magic recipe which gave her a very good sweet.

Dr.Mubiru started making Aroma Honey Toffee in 2015 and started with tasting different recipes which she would take to her workmates and friends to give her feedback, a move that propelled her to such a milestone.
