Police arrest man who caused Bomb scare in Wandegeya

Police in Kampala have arrested a man who was caught on CCTV cameras burying suspicious materials leading to a bomb scare on Tuesday morning.

Luke Owoyesigyire the PRO KMP says the man was seen digging a hole around the KCCA gardens opposite the Wandegeya police station, allegedly buried something suspicious, and later fled the scene.

Upon getting this information Owoyesigyire says they called experts from the Bomb squad who have recovered polythene bags and clothes which the suspect had buried.

“The person suspected to have buried them has also been arrested after the CCTV cameras detected him at the scene” Owoyesigyire added.

He added that the situation is now under control and the suspect will be subjected to a mental checkup before they decide on whether to charge him or not.
