Three youths buried alive by Stone Quarry in Kiryandongo
Shock and terror have gripped residents of Diima parish in Mutunda Sub County after three youths were buried alive at a stone quarry belonging to the Sinohydro Power project in Karuma Town Council Kiryandongo district.
The incident occurred this morning when five youths from Diima parish in Mutunda Sub County went to the stone quarry in Karuma cell for work to earn a living.
However, only one of the deceased has been identified as James Oyirwoth, a resident of Okwece in Karuma Town council. The identities of the remaining victims were not readily available by press time.
According to Denis Gong an eyewitness and resident of Karuma Town Council, the youths have been breaking rocks in the stone quarry.
The incident happened when the deceased attempted to escape arrest by the army.
The bodies were taken to Kiryandongo Main hospital mortuary for postmortem while the survivors were rushed to Diima Health Center II and Restoration Gate Hospital in Karuma Town Council for Medical treatment.
