15 held over murder of 28-year-old man in Masanafu

Police at Old Kampala are holding 15 people who are suspected to have taken part in the murder of Kabagambe Riky, a 28-year-old resident of Masanafu Kinonya zone in Rubaga Division, Kampala District.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire the Deputy PRO KMP, it is alleged that today morning, unidentified individuals attacked Ricky at his residence, and hit him several times before stealing his property and fleeing the scene.

The police were notified and arrived at the scene only to find Ricky in a pool of blood with a hammer nearby and an empty box suspected to have been keeping his savings smashed and its contents missing.

Owoyesigyire says that during the investigation, the police received information that the deceased’s brother identified as Ayagamba John had been spotted about 400m away from the crime scene.

This prompted the police to raid the location where they found and arrested 15 suspects, including Ayagamba and Mwerinde Bright, who was found with blood stains on his clothing.

According to Owoyesigyire, another suspect identified as Tumwebaze Samson also had suspected blood stains on his shoes and Tumusime Silver’s jacket had the same.

“The police also found suspected blood stains on the front porch of the suspects’ residence. The recovered exhibits, including blood samples, bloodstained clothing, shoes, and the suspected murder weapon (hammer), will be submitted for forensic analysis,” says Owoyesigyire.

All 15 suspects are being held at Old Kampala Police as the investigation continues. The deceased’s body has been conveyed to the City Mortuary in Mulago.
