12 Kabale taxi brokers arrested in Monday morning operations
Police in Kabale has in custody 12 people following an operation against taxi brokers around Kabale UNRA Taxi Park and Butobere junction that was carried out this morning.
While re-opening public transportation for business, president Museveni discouraged brokers in taxi and bus parks to reduce on the congestion as one of the measures to prevent and fight the spread of Coronavirus.
Elly Maate the police spokesperson Kigezi region says brokers also grab people and their property without knowing their health status, on top of people’s property getting lost.
“They negotiate money with passengers and remain behind which at times causes complaints, among other things. They have been warned against doing the same and asked to disseminate the same information to their other colleagues” Maate says.
Maate identified some of the men that were arrested as; Niwaha Mathias, Akandwanirira Peter, Akampa Emmanuel, Munanura Arnold, Sekyanzi Moses and Kabugwire Gaston among others.
He also warned that the operations will continue until after they themselves come to order.
