Detectives from Nsangi Police Division are hunting for assailants who shot and killed two people and robbed a sum of Shillings 80 Million at Nakilama cell, Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District.
The deceased have been identified as Lutaseera Lawrence, a 45-year-old businessman, and Ssenyonga Rashid, a 27-year-old gateman.
According to Patrick Onyango the PRO KMP, initial police reports indicate that the incident took place on the night of July 21, 2023, at 10:28 PM when Lutaseera and his wife, Kyazzike Norah Patricia, were returning home in his car Reg No UBG 169M.
As they reached their residence’s gate, they called Ssenyonga, their gateman, to open for them.
To their shock, upon entering the compound, two unidentified men on a Boda Boda, each wielding a gun, appeared out of nowhere and shot at them, targeting both Lutaseera and the gateman.
The assailants then proceeded to rob the victims of 80 million Ugandan shillings and their mobile phones.
The victims were rushed to Doctor’s Hospital Seguku for immediate medical attention. However, upon arrival, both were pronounced dead.
Onyango says that the police were notified and quickly arrived at the crime scene. During their investigation, they discovered 12 cartridge shells and 7 live ammunition rounds.
Lutaseera’s car was found at Doctor’s Hospital Seguku, with suspected blood stains on the seats, a broken driver’s windscreen, and three bullet holes.
The bodies of the deceased have been conveyed to the city mortuary for a postmortem examination, while the car has been impounded and taken to Nalumunye Police Station to aid in the ongoing investigation.
Onyango appealed to the public not to carry large sums of money at night, as it may attract criminal activity and potential danger.
