Two Arrested in Lyantonde Over Rape

Lyantonde Police have arrested two men in connection with an alleged rape incident. The suspects have been identified as Kiwanuka Isma, 39, a resident of Bitoke-Bisarire Cell, and Arinaitwe Asaph, 33, a resident of Ngango Cell, both in Karagara Parish, Lyantonde District.

According to police, the suspects were apprehended on the night of May 14, 2025, after a boda boda rider, Mwine Richard, witnessed what he described as an ongoing assault on a woman. The incident occurred at around 11:06 PM as Mwine was riding from Mukokoma–Stabex petrol station towards Lyantonde town.

SP Kasirye Twaha, the PRO for Greater Masaka, confirmed the arrests and stated that officers responded swiftly after receiving the report. “The suspects were found at the scene and taken into custody. Preliminary evidence has been recovered to support the investigation,” he said.

The identity of the victim has been withheld in line with protocols to protect her privacy and safety. Police say investigations are ongoing, and the suspects remain in custody as the case develops.
