Rubanda man in trouble for murder of his wife

Police in Rubanda are investigating the death of a 27-year-old woman, Ninsiima Dina, who was allegedly murdered by her husband, Brighton Asiimwe, at their bar in Hamurwa cell, Hamurwa town council, Rubanda district. The incident reportedly occurred on the evening of April 29, 2023.

According to Elly Maate the PRO Kigezi Region, the couple had recently moved to the area and had opened a small bar business. Witnesses reported seeing the couple fighting at their bar, after which the altercation escalated and moved to their bedroom behind the bar. Neighbours reportedly heard Ninsiima screaming, but eventually, the screams stopped.

When residents went inside the bar to investigate, they found blood coming from the bedroom and alerted the police. Upon arrival, the police discovered Ninsiima’s body with a shattered chin and a nail driven into her head from the forehead, among other injuries. A hammer and a 4-inch nail were found near the body as exhibits.

Asiimwe was found outside the bar eating a potato, and residents allegedly attacked him before police intervened. He sustained injuries and is receiving treatment under police guard at Hamurwa HCIV.

The deceased’s body was taken to Kabale RRH mortuary for a postmortem examination. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, and the police have not yet released any information about the motive for the alleged murder.
