Police Probe Death of Unknown Man Found in Kamuganguzi Swamp

Police in Kabale are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified man, whose body was discovered in a swamp in Rwakihirwa Cell, Kamuganguzi Sub-county, Kabale District.

Elly Maate, the PRO for Kigezi Region, told the media that on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at around 5:45 p.m., unknown suspects caused the man’s death and later dumped the body in the swamp along Katuna Road. The body was discovered by a young boy who was grazing animals in the area.

The boy informed the area chairperson, Abraham Nuwagaba, who notified the Officer in Charge (OC) of Kamuganguzi Police Station. The OC then alerted the OC of Kabale Police Station, the District CID Officer, and their team.

The police visited the scene, documented it, and retrieved the body, which had visible scratches on the face. The body was taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem, and efforts are still ongoing to identify the deceased.

Maate urged anyone missing a loved one to visit the hospital mortuary to help identify the body so it can be accorded a proper burial. Investigations are ongoing to locate the suspected killers.
