Police Launch Manhunt for Armed Men in UPDF Uniforms who robbed passengers at Gunpoint

The territorial police of Kayunga district are currently investigating a case of aggravated robbery that occurred on the night of May 15, 2023. The incident took place around 11:00 pm on Bbaale Road near Kayunga District Headquarters in Kayunga Town Council.

According to the report filed by Angular David, a 40-year-old businessman and resident of Mukono District, he was travelling from Bbale when he was abruptly stopped by four armed men dressed in UPDF uniforms. The suspects, who had set up a roadblock in the swamp near Kayunga District Headquarters, brandished a gun and demanded 70,000 shillings and two mobile phones from Angular David.

Angular was with Sabiiti Aramanzan, who had cash amounting to 150,000 shillings and mobile phones, Waiswa Nelson, who had 20,000 shillings and a Techno Mapesa phone and Lugolobi Moses also suffered a loss of 40,000 shillings and a phone.

The men, who were travelling in a truck after visiting a market in Bbaale, were forced to surrender their money and phones by the armed assailants.

ASP Butoto Hellen, the spokesperson for Ssezibwa Region says that they have not made any arrested in connection with the robbery. However, the police are actively hunting for the culprits.

She urged anyone with information related to this incident or any suspicious activities in the area to come forward and assist in the investigation.
