Police hunt for suspects in murder of suspected thief as man stabs girlfriend dead
Authorities are hunting for a group of individuals dealing in chapati selling business in Asinge cell, Madera ward, Soroti East division, following the reported torture and murder of Opio Musa. The victim was allegedly accused of stealing a table belonging to a person only identified as Busulwa.
It is reported that on November 10, 2023, four suspects, identified as Busulwa, Otim, Oparo, Rafael, and others, captured Musa and led him to a eucalyptus forest situated between compswahili and Madera. They subjected him to severe physical assault before dragging him back to the trading center.
Despite intervention by the police, Musa succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to the hospital.
Police spokesperson Fred Enanga says the investigation into this heinous crime is ongoing.
In a separate incident, Serere Central Police Station (CPS) detectives have arrested Osapa Moses, a 38-year-old resident of Pingire landing site in Serere district, for stabbing his 22-year-old woman friend, Asekenye Stella, also known as Hellen leading to her death. The tragic event occurred on November 7, 2023.
Osapa allegedly stabbed Asekenye in the right ribs using a knife. The victim was immediately taken to Serere HC IV, where she succumbed to her injuries on November 11, 2023, around 8 a.m. The suspect managed to escape but was later arrested in Amakio village.
The couple had spent three months together, but a dispute arose on November 7, 2023, at Karamajong village over Asekenye’s confiscated clothes. Although the local council (LC1) initially resolved the matter, the suspect allegedly followed Asekenye to her room and fatally stabbed her.
