Police arrests several people down town Kampala for defying presidential orders of staying home

Police in Kampala has held operations in the central business district arresting many people who are none essential workers.

While announcing the 42 days’ lockdown, President Yoweri Museveni said only essential workers from the health and security Ministry as well as media among others were allowed to go to work.

However, Luke Owoyesigyire the KMP deputy spokesperson says those that were arrested had insisted on accessing premises that had been blocked. He added that they will be released on bond.

Owoyesigyire says the operations will continue, and that they are in touch with community liaison officers to ensure that they move around and educate people on how to safeguard themselves and also check on compliance of SOPs.

Police is on standby and will not hesitate to arrest anyone who goes against the Presidential guidelines.
