Nigerian Musician Rema Returns To Uganda As It Turns 60 With Afropalooza Festival Celebrations This Weekend
The Nigerian singer Divine Ikubor, popularly known by his stage name Rema, will perform at the Pearl of Africa Festival, Afropalooza, which takes place from October 7 to October 9th this year at the Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala, Uganda.
Rema will be in the country courtesy of Talent Africa, making it his second visit to the Pearl of Africa. He first came to Uganda in December 19, 2019, for the Ciroc Pop Night Grand Finale.
This time he is back for what is being dubbed “the biggest African festival,” Afropalooza, which will be unveiled as a snowstorm of confetti marks Uganda’s 60th year of independence.
Unique event
The inaugural edition of the Afropalooza festival will be a meeting point for thousands of Ugandans and tourists from around the world to rejoice in dance, art, food, drink, dance, song and, most definitely, Rema.
He will be headlining alongside 60 other entertainers comprising music bands, dance troupes, comedians and a spectrum of other headline-stealing performance artists.
This sizzling lineup includes on-fire artists such as Maddox Sematimba, Spice Diana, Cindy, Lilian Mbabazi, Navio, The Mith, Ragga Dee, Beenie Gunter, Sandra Nansambu, DJ Zato, Janzi Band, and buffet of other mouthwatering acts.
Uganda at 60
In this fun and festive event, the atmospherics will surely be carnivalesque as Uganda turns 60 and we put our hands together for the country’s Diamond Jubilee.
Indeed, Afropalooza is a unique showcase event revealing Uganda to the world as not only a country, but as a singular experience.
All the while, Afropalooza will highlight the journey and transformation of the Ugandan music industry over the past six decades.
As a result, Rema’s fans will be able to swoon and sway to his trending hits including ‘Calm Down’, ‘Soundgasm’, ‘Bounce’ and ‘Iron Man’ which appeared on Barrack Obama’s 2019 summer playlist.
