Justice Stella Arach to be laid to rest in Nebbi District on Saturday

The funeral arrangements for the late Justice Stella Arach Amoko have been finalized, and she will be laid to rest on Saturday at Jukiya Hill Ward in Juba Village, Nebbi district.

As per the official funeral program announced by the Judiciary on Thursday, the procession will depart from Kampala to Nebbi District on Friday. Upon arrival, a special Joint District Council session will be held at Nebbi District Council Hall to pay tribute to her remarkable contributions. Subsequently, the body will be taken to the ancestral place for an overnight vigil.

On Saturday, a requiem Mass will be held at Caritas Grounds, followed by the burial ceremony.

The release of the burial program follows a recent ruling by the High Court, which ordered that Justice Arach-Amoko be buried in Nebbi District.

This ruling was prompted by a petition filed by the children and siblings of the deceased, who sought to prevent the Government and Ambassador Idule Amoko from receiving, transporting, and burying Stella Arach Amoko in Adjumani District.

On Wednesday, Ambassador James Idule-Amoko’s family expressed their acceptance of the court’s decision. Ambassador Amoko expressed remorse over the events that transpired following the passing of Justice Arach, considering them a sobering experience for both the family and the Madi Community.

Justice Arach, who had served the government for an impressive 44 years, passed away at the age of 69 at Nakasero Hospital.
