Five arrested for strangling 50 year old man to death in Rukungiri

Police in Rukungiri have arrested five people in connection to the murder of a 50-year-old man.

The deceased has been identified as Bakunda Alex, a resident of Omwitaba village Ndere parish Ruhinda sub county in Rukungiri district.

According to Elly Maate the Kigezi Regional spokesperson, the deceased disappeared on Wednesday 11/08 2021. His daughter identified as Kyomuhangi Angela came to check on him but found when he was not at home and never bothered to trace for him.

Residents claim that the deceased was last seen at Omukihweraho Katookye village while seated in a nearby playground drunk.

However today morning at around 0710hrs, a by passer found Bakunda’s body lying along the Katokye Kyomera Marum road.

They immediately notified the chairperson of the trading centre Turyazayo John, who informed the police at Ruhinda police station.

Police visited the scene of crime and found the body with multiple marks around the eyes. Postmortem done, body handed over to the relatives for burial.

Police also picked up suspects who include; Ainomugisha Mellon 28 yrs, Naluwembe Hadija 19 years, Kiiza Naboth  18 yrs, Tushabomwe Amon 35 years and Kaganga Eric 45 yrs all residents of the same village.
