Fear as Cop is found hanging from a tree in Banda, Nakawa

Officers at Jinja Road Police station have commenced investigations into what looks like death by suicide of Police Constable James Ochan attached to the Ministry of Water and Environment.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire the Deputy Police spokesperson Kampala Metropolitan area, the officer was found hanging from a tree by a rope at about 7am on Tuesday morning at Banda Primary School playground in Nakawa Division, Kampala City.

Owoyesigyire says Ochan was identified by a phone that was in the pocket of his trousers.

“Investigations are ongoing to ascertain what exactly happened to him. The reports of the Scene of Crime officers, pathologists and detectives that are talking to his friends and family will enable us understand the homicide case” Owoyesigyire says.

Ochan’s body has been conveyed to Kampala Capital City Authority mortuary at Mulago for post-mortem.

He extended condolences to Ochan’s family and called for calm as the force ascertains what exactly happen to their colleague.
