Equity Bank Uganda Backs Watoto Golf Tournament
Equity Bank Uganda Limited has pledged full support for the Watoto Golf Tournament, which kicks off on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the Uganda Golf Club. This event, organized by Watoto Church Uganda as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations, aims to raise funds to enhance educational resources and upskill learners at the Hope Vocational and Technical Institute. Proceeds from the tournament will be used to equip various departments with the necessary vocational training tools and resources to benefit up to 1,400 students.
Equity Bank’s Managing Director, Anthony Kituuka, emphasized the bank’s commitment to transforming lives, promoting dignity, and expanding opportunities for wealth creation. He stated that this sponsorship aligns with the bank’s vision to champion the social and economic prosperity of the African people.
Pastor Edward Mwesigye, the Pastoral Team Leader at Watoto, highlighted the tournament’s goal of raising UGX 300 million to support the Hope Vocational and Technical Institute. This institute, established by Watoto Church, aims to produce skilled and productive young citizens of Uganda.
The 2024 Watoto Golf Tournament will focus on young adults, with future editions planned to target young children and women under the organization’s care.
The government of Uganda recognizes Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a crucial factor in the country’s economic growth and development, and this tournament aligns with that vision.
